Think stitch coming through

My little 4 and half pound poodle was spayed three weeks ago, and it looks like a stitch is coming through where she was cut. It is not infected or red. It does not seem to bother her. It is very hard to see. The only way I found it was by touch. I hate the thought of the vet having to cut her again or anything. She get so scared now even going to the groomer. (Yesterday, at the groomer she was so scared she threw up and I stay with her). I do not want to put her through more. I guess now I am scared to call the vet. Will it come through? What will happen?

What do you mean by come through?

Do you know if they are dissolving stitches or not? Kirby had regular stitches in his gums when he had a dental procedure done, so about a week or two later, the little knots came undone and I was able to pull out small lengths of thread at a time. If they are dissolving stitches at this point (3 wks later) there should be little to no stitch left at the incision point.

Looks like to me, with how long ago- its just a retained stitch. A vet could easily do it, or if you know how take it out yourself..

You can pull a bit on the stitch and then, cut it!.
The inside stitches can take up to 6 mth to dissolve.
If you don't want to do it yrself, take her to the vet and they will do it.
They won't reopen her, they will just cut the bit that is out!.
I had the same problem with Priska and took care of it,myself!.

I felt a little area on her tummy that felt like a loose scab. The groomer even looked at it and she agreed it looked like a stitch. It is not in the area where the "one" stitch was placed. I was just told there are stitches on the inside and only one stitch on the outside. The vet used "glue" and the one stitch on the outside. This is three weeks later, almost a month. Like I said, it is very very small. The only way I found it was by touch, not sight. I would not fool with it myself. Would have to have someone with experience. Just do not want to put her through more trama. Advice?!

It's not uncommon for this type of thing to happen. Bosley had one and I just took him back and the snipped it off. Trust me Bosley isn't overly fond of going to the vet with all he's been through, but it didn't bother him in the least.

Actually absorbable suture can take up to 8-12 weeks to absorb.

It's not a hard thing to fix. You can just bring her in to the vet, and they can easily and quickly remove any suture that isn't supposed to be there. Whether it's leftover skin suture, or it was supposed to be underneath and absorbed. No big deal.

But, you have to bring her in to the vet.
