Dog with Itchy back.
So my dog, for the paast day of two, will walk a few steps, roll on her back and wiggle, then walk somemore, and keeps doing it, which i easily came to the conclusion of she's got an itchy back. I don't know what's up. My mom suggested to put egg in her food because it helps with the coat? And another thought we had was rub baby oil into her coat? But I thought I'd get advice on here first. We thought maybe she could have mites, is there a way of telling just by looking?
I know the first answer would be "take her to the vet" but see, my family cannot afford a trip to the vet if it's something we can maybe take home, or at least figure out what's up before we take her. Also we don't have time, and again, i know you guys might jump on the whole "well, you need to be a responsible pet owner and MAKE time" but please, keep those thougths to ourselves. I will take her to a vet if you guys suggest it. |

It could be just try skin. Try to ruff the fur up and see if the skin is flaky or if you notice anything abnormal. You can buy an oatmeal shampoo that helps with dry skin. There is also medicated shampoo's you can buy.
If that doesn't take care of your problem then it is time for a vet. They can do a skin s.cr.aping and see if it's mites or something else. Skin health is also effected by nutrition. So my next thought is what food do you feed? Perhaps there is an allergy to a specific ingredient in the kibble you feed. However if this just started and you have been feeding the same for a long period of time I wouldn't think that would be the case. Egg doesn't hurt to add. But it won't completely stop the problem either. |

I totally agree with SalemWitch about Nutrition your dog could be alergic to the food you give her. You can also buy sprays from the pet store that can relieve the itching after an oatmeal or medicated shampoo bath.
