Max's Op Postponed
Had to get Max's castration op postponed until 15th October. My husband's wage is commission based and someone in payroll messed up his wages this week. He's been left with just enough to scrape by on for the next week
I have had a lot of thoughts about getting Max castrated. It has to be done in accordance with us adopting him but the last time I had a dog castrated (about 20 years ago), techniques were different and the dog in question didn't have an easy time. The wound was quite large and bled a lot, so much so that I had to call the vet (not the vet I have now) for advice late on at night. However, this morning I saw something that put most of my fears at rest. I went into the local shop on the way to work. I saw a very elderly couple tie their dog to the post while they went into the post office. It was a small dog of some description, about the size of a JRT. The dog very obviously had a large tumour on it's testicles - probably cancer and it really was a horrible sight. Any worries I had about getting Max castrated went right out the window after I saw that this morning. |

Yeah, your better of to possibly(hopefully not) have a little infection than have some bad sickness or have temperment issues in the future.
It is not that bad and the wounds are very small, not big at all, if done right. I hope your week goes okay... |

With my last couple of Male pets, they didnt even use stiches...they just used skin glue!!!!
You have nothing to worry about, but keep us updated anyway. |

Thanks for the confidence boost
Our vet has explained how the op is done nowadays but after seeing that poor little dog today I know that at least Max won't run the risk of getting that type of cancer. He's also being microchipped while he's under the anaesthetic and getting his nose checked out to see why one nostril keeps running. We have very good vets - probably the best vets in our area It's in Max's best interests too - his health comes first. He's doing very well and has put on a bit of weight. His muscles are also starting to build up after being in kennels for so long. Since he came to live with us he's been Frontlined (he had fleas) and has been wormed. That was very easy to do. We got worm pills from the vet for him. He loves cheese so I wrapped the worm pills in a piece of cheese and he didn't even realise he'd been wormed
