Why is Doxie constantly licking the floor?

I'm watching him right now, if I choo him away from where's he at, he'll go somewhere and start up there. I don't see or smell anything on the carpet-I cant understand why he does it. Any suggestions?

Canidae Lamb & Rice. He has a very sensitive stomach so no wet food or table scraps.

Some floor cleaners the smell attracts the dogs. Also carpet powders.. I have no clue why, but I believe if its a "flower" type smell seems to be more of an attraction. My dogs get attacted to the kitchen floor by the stove, and my beliefs are that maybe a little bit of splattered grease, or food dropped although cleaned up- not clean well enough and the dogs smell it..
And here is one more idea- I had a rescued Jack Russell once ( Kimba) and he was fascinated with the carpet. One day I came home and he had dug at the carpet literally leaving a hole in the pile. Later I found out that there were mice under the carpet in the floor space area- and actually he was after the mouse from above...

Hudson starts licking the floor, carpet, couches when he is trying to throw up...maybe take him outside and see if he starts eating the grass...if he does...then he is doing it to throw up....if not....your dog is just weird...welcome to the family!!!

Both the cotons can be compulsive lickers. Except they'll both start licking your leg at the same time... Eww.w..
