DIET...Although not necessary, I have always put my Breeding Girls on a puppy based formula from the beginning of the heat cycle if I intend to put her in pup. I continue on with this formula right through till Whelping.

INCREASING THE DIET...Contary to popular belief, you do not need to feed her UP, during pregnancy, a good quality feed, will give her and her growing pups all she needs. Too much weight during pregnancy can cause complications during Whelping. I normally follow the chart detailed below.

PREGNANT GIRLS FEED RATIO. Always multiplied x times normal.

first 5 weeks 1.0
5th week 1.1
6th week 1.2
7th - 9th week 1.3

AFTER WHELPING....it is almost impossible to overfeed a whelping mum.
I always give her what she wants, so now is the time to give her double, triple, whenever she is hungry, and stock up the supplies as she will be ravenous.

SUPPLEMENTS...if she is on a well balanced diet you don't need any, not before Whelping...you say Calcium, everyone talks about calcium, yes that's correct, but not NOW!! After Whelping, that's when to start. It is very important that you DON'T give a pregnant dog calcium supplements.
