Exclamation Help!

Ok so i have an aged shih-tzu x toy poodle...
She is around 8years old but has never showed her age...
She has gotten sick a few times but recovered easily with time..
Today i just noticed that she had been sleeping for around 2-3hours and was making weird noises like she was about to be sick..but never was..
She brought up some of her dog biscutes a few nights ago but she stayed quite happy and i didnt noticed any change..
As i was saying she had been sleeping for a few hours while i was on the computer and then she got up and was panting alot ..she isnt quite the panting type but she is sort of huffing and puffing so i gave her some water and put the fan on her because i thought she was hot..but her body temp (by feel) was quite normal..
I took her outside for abit and she is walking really slow and she went to the toilet and it looked quite normal (sorry if too much info)...
I really don't know what to do ..and i don't have a clue whats wrong with her but it's not a matter of a vet yet as she has done this before and recovered and also a friend of mines dog had similer symtoms but the vet couldnt find anything...
It could just be her old age and it might be her slowing down abit more but i'm quite worried about her..
She also got out a few nights and we werent sure where she had been but aparently the next door neighbour said she just stoped at her house...
She hasnt got a tick but it's just so sudden so if anyone would be able to give me some suggestions on what to do then please post..
If she doesnt get better in the next few days i will take her to the vet ..but for now i need to make her more comfy..

First off...8 isn't really that old for a small breed. Second...you said she's done this before?
You know your dog more than we do. The fact that she got out a few nights could mean that she managed to get into something.

I would only giver her one day to see if she improves. If not, then a trip to the vet (just in case) would be in order.

Hope she's ok...and pics please, if you can

Emmagirl is right, 8 is not old for a small breed. My Beagle did not show signs of aging until he turned 13 and he lived to 16 1/2!. Panting could be anything, but if your dog usually does not pant and is acting strange like you say, it may be time for a vet trip just to be sure.

I know Shih Tzu's do that all the time. It's caused by the shape of their nose and face. They kinda hack (with out vomitting) for a bit and then they go and rest again. Ususally they're fine. IF she's still acting slow, it is cause for concen.

I would recommend giving her a few hours and if she's still "off" then take her to the vet. But the hacking behaviour is normal at least for a shih tzu

ok i don't agree my shihtzus and pugs never hack anything and I think if they do it could be a problem like collapsing trachea or thier soft palate is swollen which could be a sign of illness. If she keeps doing this go to the vet it is the only way to be sure.
