Question training time

I was just outside working on obedience with my dog Suzy, its been like 3 months that ive worked w/ her outside of class and I forgot how much fun it is! For those of you who do obedience or somthing, how often do you work independantly? I should prolly make this more of a habit.

I do a little bit everyday, basic sit, down, paw, leave it and down stays.
I try about once a week to work him outside on everything, alot of leash training. He still needs some work in that area.

Im not flamming you or anything but this is the reason people have a some stereotype that dog trainers dont know what they are doing. and the answer is they do. Its up to the owner to reinforce those rules for the rest of the dogs life. That being said....

lol kinda sounds like i came off angry. just had to get that out. sorry. Ya just try to keep to atleast 20 mins, 3 times per week and you will be just fine.

Well Exile if you are talking about dogs not knowing their commands, mine do b/c we use them on a daily bases. I guess what I meant to say was I went out and had a "session" which keeps them fine tuned.

Ahh yes i had a question like this on another forum a while bacl(ya i remember the stupidest things) and what i said was include all commands your dog knows into your daily life. So were on the same track. I no longer have "sessions" beacuse i dont think there needed, others would say otherwise. I just give him commands throughout the day. Its also a great way to show your an alpha.

Yeah the command are used pretty much all day long but I find it fun to have "sessions" as we are saying and I think it helps with the bond. Also my dogs dont know the difference between work and play, they think its all fun.

alot of breeds prefer working for their owner and pleasing them rather than having fun. Just in there nature. Im sorry i remember but what type of breed is suzy?

Yeah Suzy is a border collie as are our other 2, so I wouldnt be surprized if they like it even more than your average dog. lol

Kirby and I both love training. I work with him every day.

When he was a puppy, he had two sets of obedience... Say before 6 months, and at 15 months, we entered agility... Every day since June 06th 2003, I've worked with him for at least 10 minutes, teaching him new tricks and perfecting old ones.
