Exclamation Big Honking Butt Blister

Kirby has what looks like a big blister under his butt hole. Been scooting around alot, took a look, and there we go, big old blistery boil thing under his butt. It's pretty dark red, and more than 1 cm in diameter. Not oozing anything.

Maybe a hemorrhoid?

I poked it a bit, yeah, I poked Kirby's butt hole, it's soft, the skin is rougher than the rest of his body though.... And it doesn't seem to hurt him, but is obviously itching. He can poop fine at all, but geez, it's nasty looking. Any ideas as to what it is/what to do before we ring the vet?

Maybe I'll take a photo for you later.

Oh , Moo that sounds awful. It doesn't hurt Kirby ? might just call the Vet and ask him, but you know how they are they might just ask you to come in for a look.

I have never heard whether or not fogs can get hemaroids. Hmm.....

Good luck with him, pooor guy .

I'm not sure whether dogs get hemorrhoids either but the description of the boil sounds somewhat like that. Hemorrhoids supposedly itch also - they fill up with blood (maybe that's why it looks red?)
Has Kirby been constipated or straining during his motions?... that's usually what causes hemorrhoids I think.

The vet book says dogs really don't get hemorrids BUT to treat them with human hemorroid creams (I don't make this s*** up). If you have some prepH you can apply a little and see if it reduces. If not, then it's likely something else.

Dax as tumors that sort of look like that (Not blood filled - tissue). The scooting breaks them open and makes a major mess. It he breaks it open - treat like a normal wound with direct pressure. You can also apply a paste with some baking soda & Vaseline to the area because those things (as least Dax's) smell bad.

I don't think it's hurting him, but with Kirby's pain tolerance, you never know.

It's pretty nasty looking, although, it doesn't feel... burstable, it's soft, like the rest of him body
I've cleaned it with baby wipes, and trimmed some of the hair around it away.

I woke up early, dealt with small dog, then went to take some photos of Kirby's butt.

The middle part is darker. Like a clot.

I wanted to research it last night, but I didn't know what to type in.
I couldn't google : " Blister on the *** "

My poor little boy.

Moo, try the hemorid cream first. It can't hurt him - might reduce swelling. Keep an eye on it. If it continues to grow (quickly) over the next few days I would still schedule a vet visit.

Dax had several and the vet took a biopsy with a needle to confirm they are tumors. They don't actually burst but the skin gets pulled tight and then it rips with the scooting. I've seen them when they don't burst and they can continue to grow to the size of a baseball and hang down.

Thanks Dax. For the scare as well.

I guess I'll clean and cream his bum and see what happens....
