WONDERFUL!
Now Hudson- when fostering or adopting a dog that has never been inside there are several things you can do that will help the situation in getting use to the house. 1. Pick a room- this room should be near the door. The dog will feel at home if they have one area to worry about- and not the whole house.. 2. When the dog is going potty outside- exhale- glance away- remember the dog is use to not being watched when going potty. That way when the dog is loose in the house and you are watching- he will quickly learn the difference. 3. Keep seperated at feeding times. Remember the dog may be use to just having the whole yard to themselves when eating.. |

I introduce a new one to the gang while they're in a crate, then with leashes on one at a time. It's worked out very well so far. I have to segregate them when feeding anyway. I've got all ages, & sizes usually. I always work with the fosters individually and my own together for the most part.
If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. I'm sooooooo excited for you! And Cant wait for PHOTOS!! Have the batteries ready LOL

Crating will help you but it should be a wire crate so he can look around his environment. The reasoning in this is that the dog is use to being able to see all around him. And you want him to perceive that room ( for a start-- then the house) is all his area but not potty area. Remember he will have no clue to not go potty in a crate at first. Afterall- he has being going potty when he slept before. I know you know to take him out when waking up, after eating etc. I have had outside dogs panic in a crate. For all they know- they are at the vet or "jailed". Coming to get him several times a day- you are his " rescuer" and then outside to potty- play- potty again- in the house and cookies for the crate will help alot. Always put him back in the crate with either his feeding times or a cookie.. Sit there for a few seconds so he learns you will not " desert him"..
