Discipline is all in the training. I'm all about preventatives with positive reinforcement. I think I've developed great discipline with Kirby over time. He has a pretty good sense of what's right and what's wrong.

If you're talking about punishment.... I don't really. I shake a chain, and Kirby knows that it means "Stop that right now". A negative tone is all a dog really needs.

That not always neccessarily true. Some dogs do need a higher level of discipline to understand. Oscar is an example of one. I cant just say "NO" and he will stop the bad behaviour. He needs sometype of physical discipline. Im not implying that i hit him. But lets say we get really rough and accidently bite me. In order for him to understand that i dont want that, i would have to grab his muzzle and keep it shut while saying NO. Its the only way to get across to some dogs. For the people that own dogs that can be disciplined with a simple, NO. Be grateful.

I'm on that length sort of...

See, if Kirby bit me, I would yell OUCH.

Then I would grab his muzzle, hold it shut tell him HOLD IT, then let go and tell him 'Good hold it'.

I think maybe she's asking what kind of disciplines/sports/training do you do, not how do you discipline....

Bailey doesn't do disciplines. She doesn't have any attention span whatsoever.

Ohhh my bad. Well no, Oscar doesnt play any sports. He will be rolled into obedience soon as i find another club but thats about it. I know Kirby is involved in alot of that stuff though

Whoops, sorry 'bout that, I opened replies with misinterpretation.

Kirby did 2 rounds of obedience, and did great, but I dropped that and went for agility. He's got speeeeeed, and he has good problem solving skills. If I can ever find a flyball club in my area, I may think about that too.

Urban, and that's the problem. We're here in the big city, and all the clubs are in the outskirts, where there's big properties and farmland. My agility club isn't even in my city, have to cross boundary to get there. Flyball clubs are even farther out.
