Cadet is driving me CRAZY!!!

Okay I love this dog I do....but he is driving me freakin CRAZY!!!! If I leave him alone for a few minutes all he11 breaks loose. I have a shower my underwear is in the living room, I go have a nap he poops in my pants, I go to work and younger bro lets him out...he EATS MY WORK BOOTS!!!!!

The cats are being fed under my bed because he wont let them out of my room, to the point where I went to pick up the clothing this morning and the cats peed all over the dirty clothing.....I cant get mad at the cats...they couldnt get out of the room....I cant keep him locked up all the time, that isnt fare....he plays really well with Hudson but can get rough fast and has actually bit Hudsons ear making it bleed.

I came home at lunch and sat on the couch....and could hear a cat crying....I went to my front door....and there is Mish....by baby boy cat....MY CATS DONT GO OUT!!!! I dont know how he got out, but I know why he wanted to go out....

I feel like a bad mom, for the cats, for Hudsons ear, for everything....am I cut out for this fostering thing?????????????

It is ok to get frustrated. Even babysitting my sister's dog makes me nuts some times.

Don't feel like you owe Cadet free run of the house. You don't. He can be in a kennel, locked in a safe area just fine.

I would take him and hudson out for 1/2 run in the am. Confine him with some toys or even a big knuckle bone by himself for most of the day. After work, take him for a walk before settling in for the evening.

No.. keeping him confined is not a bad thing. I would try for a larger kennel vs a crate or a bathroom/bedroom.

Confinement is not bad. In some cases like Cadet where ihe is so rough its better for his and Hudsons safety.

Dont feel bad, and he may calm down in time. Get that water bottle out!

Confine him. Some don't need it at all. Some need it whenever you are not directly with them and have your attention on them.
Waylon comes to mind . He's a great dog but too smart and entertains himself in unappropriate ways when not guided or supervised.
I have also had the socially inept! They want to play but are not well versed in play etiquette. They too can only do it with supervision but for them it can be room seperation rather than crates.

Take each dog as they come and give them what they need. When they cant' be trusted out of your presence, crate them for your sanity and their safety not to mention Hudsons too.

Don't feel bad either. The crate and regular healthy meals and attention is probably so much more than what he had where ever he came from!

Keep smiling, this too shall pass

Crate (In my words, kennel) that pooch HM. Crate him while you are sleeping, while you are in the shower, and while you are at work. There is no harm to this at all as long as he gets proper exercise and gets to potty. You are not punishing the dog at all. He will have a bit of a safe haven all to himself. When you are home let the dogs play like crazy. In the long run you will be helping Cadet so that if a forever home is possible, he will be able to fit right in.

I agree with Dax and the rest. The cats live there, Cadet is a house guest.
