Barbie has giardia...... :-(

I knew this would be a challenge if everyone stayed healthy.. not happening. Maia and her's are all good now but now Barbie has giardia!
She can't take the normal med while nursing so I've got something else and diareaha meds and she gets chicken & rice which is cooking now...

Man I hope we don't have to bottle feed hers for a couple of weeks. That will be so hard. But if it has to happen then so be it...

I need a maid and laundry attendant! LOL I do have everyone saving and giving me newspapers. Just bought my 2nd 100 pack of puppy pads too.

FUN, FUN, FUN.....

Do you think it's a new bug she has?? One of my trainers had a GSD with chronic Giardia...it never went away with treatment.

Giardia is very hard to get rid of. There is an excellent article on it on the U of C Davis, shelter health report.

not sure yet. see how treatment goes the next few days. she did like the chicken & rice with meds on the side .. That's a good sign for her!
They even said she could just be a carrier and it wasn't discovered until she got the runs today...
Meds, diet, watch closely this weekend and see Dr Y on Monday or the ER if she vomits before then...

FUN, FUN, FUN..... Come on January!!!!!!! I can do it.. I can do it... I can do it....

Chant with me everybody!!! I can do it.. I can, I can... and hopefully without completely loosing what's left of IT hahaha I know this post doesn't sound convincing that I'm not already there LOLLOLOLl ikes Just a little tired is all..

Oh no! Poor baby.. She got this from living in an unclean environment and I hope its not passed.. Watch for dehydration in the pups.. Gently pinch the back of the necks and watch.. The skin should go back quick which means no dehydrations.. watch for slow returning skin.. At this age the pups poop is being taken care of by mom- so its hard to see- but dehydration isnt hard to see..

I'm all over all of them! I figure I'll have everyone healthy in about a week and then they should be finished with all of this nonsense! Haha.. boy do they not listen to me!

Ohhhh Poor Baby!!! What are the chances of Giardia being passed onto the pups? I have a bag of Weaning Formula that I'm happy to send to you if you need it. PM if you'd like it and I'll ship right away.

I read the two sites that you were talking about Teresa but I still do not understand what this us. I also read that a vaccine is out there but it has not been proven affective. Why put something on the market if you do not know if it works or not?
