How can this happen??

It is stories like this that make my efforts of rescue and opening my foster facility so much greater.

MEET GABBY

THIS IS THE SHELTER INFO;

City Of Rushville Animal Shelter

223 Smiley Avenue
Rushville, IN 46173
Phone: 765-932-4754

These are pictures of Gabby from the Rushville Shelter in Indiana. She was "euthed" on a Monday. On Friday, a shelter worker went to the freezer and found her STILL ALIVE!! - under other dead puppies. This is the the THIRD TIME this has happened. The mayor has been made aware of all three times and is not real concerned ( he was defeated in the election). The mayor told the shelter worker to have Gabby euthed again. She refused and Gabby is being sent to a rescue tomorrow.

If you are as concerned about the practices of the mayor and shelter director, please contact Jamie (765)561-6875
or shelterhelper1@yahoo.com

Here is Gabby. Her name means "God is my strength"

Do these shelters not even check to be sure that these animals are completely dead?!?! I mean...really it isn't hard to check and be sure an animal is dead!!
That's a horrific story *shudders* I can't even imagine....

I cannot tell you how much this breaks my heart! Good for Gabby now though! She can be the poster child for change there and she will have a future now. Thanks goodness! What a doll.

I would also like to know why was this dog going to be PTS. Apparently it was a kill shelter? There are times I get on my podium and say that it's just not fair, then the wise and evil side of me just says to wait it out, that people like that Mayor will get his in the long run. The pendulum swings both ways and what ever goes around comes around.

That is just terrible!!! She mine as well have been chained up outside in a snowstorm. Isn't that what shelters are there for is to rescue animals from those situations. At the very least they need to have their euth solution changed and maybe require that a vet and not a tech do this! Simply awful!!!
