App Request For Gabriel

I just had to share this! I think it's awesome that someone is looking at rescue pups for something so noble! I do have one question though.
Here's the email:

Hi there...
>
> I'm looking to get the adoption application. I'm
> looking to get a pup to train for SAR and avalanvhe
> rescue. Thanks!

Only question I have is, aren't working dogs usually eval'd on personality etc to see if they have the basics to what it takes to do the job? Anyone involved with this, please input your thoughts.. thanks!

They are puppy tests to help choose the right pup!.
Usually, they look for a playful puppy that is not scared of falling objects or an umbrella being opened. The puppy also needs to be curious and have some playdrive. Not too dominant and slightly dependant of a person.Yes,puppies are chosen young but they also try to save older dogs.

Thanks G&H for the info. I know there are things looked for but didn't know what they were.

Sad as this may sound, I sooo wish he's look at Waylon, my 1 yr old, for something like this! He needs a job. He's so smart and eager and not afraid of anything as well, he's social!

I am happy for Gabriel but Waylon still needs a chance and I'm convinced a working dog is his best chance at happiness and a great future..

I was thinking the same thing. Although they may have to train from a baby. I'm not sure how that works

Yeah.. I'm all over having him meet Waylon when he meets Gabriel or Frodi (I missed that he mentioned wanting to meet both) oops..
I figure if he's in this line of interest, if not him, maybe someone he knows?

I wonder why he just wants to meet those two pups, you would think he would want to evaluate them all?
