My dog is in heat, how long after 10th day does she stay

My dog is currently in heat. I waited 10 days while she was bleeding then was told she is able to mate. I brought the male to her on friday nov,30th
, they still have not done it yet. She is putting her butt in his face all the time but when he tries she kinda attacks him and lets him know who is boss. This is not her first heat more like 4-5 heat. I know it is better to bring female to male but that was not an option. The male dog lives like 5 houses down from us so he is kinda still in his territory not to mention him and his owner do walk up and down alley because they are friends with someone behind our house.
My question is if she was 10 days in heat on the 30th, how long will she be able to mate after the 10th day?
I have a blue heeler and the other dog is same breed. We have family and friends whom would like puppies from us and I would love for my son to play with a puppy.
As well is it normal for the female to growl, kinda attack male when he tries to mate with her. It has been a couple days now and she seems like she wants it but is not ready yet?
    Thanks,
    heather

Hi and welcome to the forum. They are in heat for 21 days altogetter. The hot heat is from 8 to 13 days into heat. So right now she could really get breed good. You need to keep her put up until she is out of heat. You can go on yahoo and type in dogs in heat. And it will tell you what you need to know about it. Is this her frist time? If so she could have her breast to look like that they might begetting milk in them. It don't always happen but it could. Yes it is normal for her to do that. The frist seven days most of the time they don't want a male to mess with them. How old is your dog? You don't want to breed her until she is at least 2 years old. They are not fully grow until 2. It could hurt her.

Go to offa.org for info on health tests.

Actually it is very normal for the female to attack because she is not ready.
i did get a test done called the vaginal smear test done and they said she is still in heat but that shes not quite ready but hopefully in 3 days they gave me an estimated guess on how long before she is ready.
    thanks for everyones comments!

Each dog is different as to what day they will stand. For example, my 2 girls, Cajun never stood before day 12 and would only aloow breeding until day 16. Velvet on the other hand will stand on day seven but does not ovulate until day 11.

I would put them together when they can be watched closely and nature will take its course if it was meant to be. Is this her first litter? Some females will panic when the find themselves in a tie for the first time and may need to be held.
