Chloe's first off leash trip

Just wanted to share...we let Chloe off-leash in the quiet area of the park for the first time today. Our hearts were in our mouths esp since she is a beagle (prone to follow her nose) but we had practiced quite a bit on the long leash. She did really well -stayed with us. After a few more sessions we'll introduce her to the more crowded parts of the park..but I'm so so proud of her!!

Way to go!
Meka is fine off leash, stays right with me. I dont know what would happen if another dog approached.
Clifford is awful! He will take off in an instant!!

Good job Chloe, it's so nice to be able to let them run off leash... more trips soon I hope (and perhaps some pictures???)

Thanks everyone! I will take off-leash pictures next week, I promise. I dont have the courage to take her off-leash anywhere outside the park-what if she gets startled by car? But we had a wonderful time in the park - threw snow balls at Chloe (she loves that)...I have some pictures of Chloe playing in the snow after our big snowstorm couple of weeks ago...will post those soon

Good for Chloe, yes take it in little steps, better safer than sorry, once you can trust her off leash most of the time, you will get more confidence.

(Ellie is never on a leash, except down the street.)

Kirb is the opposite. He is reliable walking down the street. His heel is great, practically glued to my leg at all times. It's inside others' houses and such that he needs a leash.
