DO NOT RUB the area....if you suspect frost bit you want to slowly warm the area and keep it moisterized. It will probably peel away. Who do you think is frost bit?? BAD frost bite goes black... |

OHHH and if a part of the body does get bitten...you have to be VERY careful because it is 100000000 x easier to get it in that area again.

Could be frost bit...dosnt sound like it though...is it really warm?? I would go get some zinc ointment (diper rash cream) and put that on it. It is really thick and will be hard for him to lick off....I have a bunch here...I use it on EVERYTHING it is GREAT!!! I can get you some if you are up for a quick walk with Hudson and a couple of puppies??

Ohh Dax I had it backwards....sorry..
Frostbite is distinguishable by the hard, pale, and cold quality of the skin that has been exposed to the cold for a length of time. The area is likely to lack sensitivity to touch, although there may be an aching pain. As the area thaws, the flesh becomes red and very painful. Any part of the body may be affected by frostbite; but hands, feet, nose and ears are the most vulnerable. If only the skin and underlying tissues are damaged, recovery may be complete. However, if blood vessels are affected, the damage is permanent and gangrene can follow which may require amputation of the affected part. Upon warming, it is common to experience intense pain and tingling or burning in the affected area. |

Could be just a skin irritation or allergic reaction. Was he lying on something that was cleaned with a new or strong detergent? Carpet powders give this reaction a lot. Sorry to make you do this, but does it smell at all? Some dogs can get a yeast infection in the groin, stomach, and underarm areas or if they just have oily skin. If thats the case, ACV can usually neutralize the bacteria. Hope he gets better!
