Dry nose?

My husband mentioned tonight how dry vanilla's nose was. Yes it is dry but has been that way since we had to turn the heat on in the house. Yes it is forced hot air. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her, just dry nose. I can't put Vaseline on it because she LOVES vaseline or Bag Balm. I would just leave it alone but DH is concerend because the other pooches noses are wet...but then the other two dogs do throw slingers. Any advice?

What about vitamin e oil? That way it almost immediately absorbs?

Careful with vaseline on the nose... They'll like it off, and it produces a laxative effect.

My dogs typically have dry noses. Holly's is never wet- Kirby's is dry half the time, wet half the time.

NO crustiness nor cracks weezy but her nose which should be black on the top is now an ash grey from lack of moisture. I will try the vitamin E and Thanks.

But is that it? Wet nose means healthy and dry nose means ill? Not necessarily. There are many different things that can cause your dog's nose to become dry. Some of the most common are:

Dry Air: If your dog has been in a room where the circulation isn't great or the air is quite dry, then his nose is bound to dry up a bit.


Hot Temperatures: If a dog has slept in the sun, even if he is indoors, or just in an area where it was very hot, his nose will be dry as soon as he wakes up.


Dehydration: Your dog may be completely healthy but have a dry nose because he's slightly dehydrated from not drinking enough. When a dog is dehydrated it's harder for his body to create moisture and so his little nose dries up.
