Sidney

Sidney went to his first vet visit with Rescue. He had his teeth cleaned and was neutered and given his first round of treatment for heartworm. I believe my director will be picking him up on Saturday afternoon from the vets office and we will again have him in residence here in the house. The vet was more concerned with his ear infection than he was about the heartworm. Seems one of his ear canals has a blockage and they were goint to irrigate it and free him from the pain and infection going on in there. He will be placed on oral antibiotics again and possibly Prednizone. I asked my director to allow me to keep him here because I have never cared for a heartworm positive dog before and feel the experience will be good to have as long as I am going to continue to foster. She agreed to allow me to take care of him until he's ready to be adopted.

I'm glad your going to continue with him.

I have done 2 heartworm positive dogs, it went fine, hardest thing is keeping them calm.

Poor Sydney, btw that was the name of my very first rescue ... so I would like to request the honor of having him as my cyber please ... I'm sure the vet told you but if not don't be worried too much if he's a bit wonky because of the ear infection. He may shake his head a bit or even stagger until it's healed up.

Just makes me want to cry ... all of this neglect/abuse...and to hold my own furkin up so they can read how well they have it when they're grumbling about something - did carpets and so did crate them, you'd have thought someone had brought out the rubber hose!

Kudos and a great big thank you!

You are doing a great thing, it is not easy caring for a dog with so many medical problems. You are giving him a chance at life, you are an angel!

Keep up your selfless, great job! I'm so glad you're giving that poor boy a chance. So many others would have given up long ago. Keep it up!
