Sadie Has Her Milk!!!!
Sadie is so big!!!Her poor tummy is so stretched,we have to feed her little bits through the day, because three big meals a day make her tummy hurt! She has her milk down now,but she is supposed to have almost three more weeks before the pups come. She nibbles at her tummy lots, and is a little restless [her big tummy makes it hard to find a good position!].With Annie we saw all these symptoms in the last week.
We had taken Sadie to the stud,on her 8th day of heat.It was early though, and we let them get friendly and such but nothing [as of course we didn't think] happend. We took her back on the 12th day,she took for only 4 min. Then again on the 13th day,she took[15 min].On the 14th,nothing.Then she took again on the 15th[20 min]. She seems like she's going to pop.And she did start showing early, could she have actually taken on the 8th.We are beginning to think so!Everything is getting prepared, and i think puppies will be here before March [march 1-2 was the supposed due date].Look out, because if i'm not mistaken,we have puppies coming in just two weeks!!! Here are some pic's of her big tummy! She can't quite touch her face with her back foot either! |

There is a good chance she took on all the days. But there are only 5 days from the first to the second mating, should be fine.
She could come early because of all the pups, but you don't want it any earlier than 4 - 5 days max from the first mating. Check her discharge, is it still stringy white cloud or is it changing color. Sophie used to have milk come in 2-3 weeks before, but only small amounts. Ellie has milk now, with her phantom...when would she be due, i will have to check. Make little Sadie rest up a lot, poor thing, she looks like a ball. Give her a hug for me. |

Whitish discharge [but very little]!Wow Sophie came in with milk 2-3 weeks before?I guess that just shows how u can't go by the book either.
She is very healthy despite her less immobile state. We don't have to "keep her quite",as that is all she does now is sleep, although she wakes upi every couple of minutes to change positions! She LOVES the kennel,[always has],and got so excited when we brought it out,she started jumping around, and then ended up yelping nd sitting down, whinning with expression, and waiting for me to get it ready for her to go in! p.s.Sadie sent a kiss back from the hug for u! |

I've never been through a canine pregnancy, so I'm sorry I can't help out here. But those pics are absolutely adorable! I'm not much for little dogs, but looking at Sadie makes me want to get a chi - right now! (Actually, we had a chi when I was a baby, until we moved when I was 6 and I remember her fondly!)
The close-up of her curled in a ball looks like it could be a doe. Give her a soothing massage from me, will ya?

Okies I checked the dates on Ellie, she would be due TODAY!! of course there is nothing there...lol.
She has full on milk today, but had no milk 4 days ago. I will compare next time she is in. Sophie was a story all on it's own when it came to breeding, she never stood till her 16th day of heat, most unusual, I had her blood tested for her optimum mating day, yep it was her 16th confirmed. That's why I never go by the book, every dog is different, although Sadie has had pups before, so her cycle, whelping should be pretty much the same as last time. |

when we bred princess and nick together They got TOGETHER about well a couple of times but all in the same week. When she delivered(on her due date) 2 survived one wasnt even formed all the way(just a head and body no legs or tail) and another was still orn but got stuck so we had to rush her to the vet for him to pull it out. he said the reason that one wasnt formed yet was because we let her get together with nick again and she had two litters in one so one was early. I hate that one was still born(it was funny though princess is a red and nick is a dapple and the one that was still born was a blck and tan!) the babies that did survuve are brindles!

That's the reason that when you mate you do it normally, now I say that very broardly lol. on the 12th and 14th days, that way the pups are only 2 days apart.
Gotta go for a while..back later.. |
