Fostering!

Well I was reading on a shelter site that they had a Siberian Husky that was in urgent need of adoption or foster care...Her last day is in a few weeks and she will put to sleep if not taken...
I looked at this healthy dogs face and just thought to myself...how can nobody want her?
So Im seriously thinking about fostering this dog untill she finds a new home .....
But before I do...I would like to know all of the Prodog foster carers tips and helpful hints on taking onboard a foster dog..

I'm looking into the breed as we speak ...but I do have one question I'm unsure of...Can they be tied up and left while gone out?
We crate prince ...but our cattle x we just tie up on a chain while we leave..and My shih-tzu is just left in the house...
And I dont want to do the wrong thing...

While I admire that you would like to help this dog, perhaps you could try to make contact with a husky rescue who can better help to get him to foster care?

Tie out is one of the very few things that I cannot accept. We have probably the most open minded rescue in the state and using tie outs as a means of containing a dog at home is one thing that does not fly with us, especially me.
If you have to tie a dog out, I wouldn't consider you to foster this dog. If you tie out a dog you own, I wouldn't consider adopting to you.

About huskies...
The huskies are a special breed in that they normally have a high prey drive. Often, dogs & people are great by them but little else is (cats, birds etc)
They are runners. If loose, a pain to catch again.

I think that's a great idea! There are so many ways to help besides actual fostering even if it's to spread the word about him to those who might be able to help him. That's alot really! Please let us know if someone is able to step up and get him out of doggie jail!

Just a warning, you may want to be careful with fostering. It's a great deed, but as you already have current dogs, (and prince, who has very thin skin due to the nature of his skin). Make sure the rescue assures you the dog is good with other dogs. A husky can do a lot of damage to a whippet, even unintentianally. They don't know their own strength and don't always watch where their teeth go.

I think fostering is a great idea, and would be great for you, but I'm not sure if this is the right dog, breed, and time. Best of luck on any endeavours you take!
