Rescue Saga Continues

A gal had been contacting me through my MySpace page about rehoming her Maltipoo who's 16 mos old. I went to meet & pick him up last night as a network rescue had an approved applicant interested in adopting him.
When I arrived I couldn't believe my eyes. Charlie was emaciated, bad skin, unneutered, being treated for a UTI for the 2nd time since October and was still peeing blood. In October he was flea & worm infested I discovered. He had never been to a professional groomer Aside from all of this, he's the NICEST sweet social pup!
Anyway, the couple and their bishon rescue came to meet him today and adopted him. They will keep me updated on his progress and I can't wait to see him healthy! Here's a photo. He's also tiny like a toy poodle but doesn't look it in this pix, he also looks more healthy in the photo than in person.

Next update:
Frodi (from Maia's litter) was adopted today! woohoo. Wonderful family and the Mom is a licensed dog trainer too. They have a lot of propery and a Aussie Collie.

Gabriel (from Maia's litter) was chosen for adoption by a great family too. He will not join them until the 22nd though.

Holly's (from Maia's litter) home inspection (they were moving after they met her into a house) went great today and she will join her family on the 15th.

And happily and sadly little tiny Cami, the last of Barbies babies, was adopted tonight so all the little cows have gone on to their homes.

Mom, Barbie, is doing great from her spay yesterday and if all goes well, will be adopted next Sunday.

Mom, Maia, will be spayed on Thursday. I still have more work with her on her doggie social skills so we can best place her.

Oh, and the aussie girls Nikki and Naomi are fiesty and doing great from their spays and we got an app request finally for them (crossing fingers)

Trooper and Mauthe's (from Maia's litter) family's are still out there somewhere. I'm sure they'll be along soon!

I think that's everybody...

Wow good job! That seems like a ton of adoptions. How do you guys advertise, besides petfinder?

Only on petfinder. I did make a MySpace page that's only my foster dogs. That's how the gal who owned Charlie found me/us.
We are putting our adoptable pets and courtesy posts book at the new local owned pet store that recently opened. We network heavily with the other rescues in the surrounding areas as far as eastern WA also. It's a substantial network.

I put out word to it of Charlies dilema in hopes of finding a rescue/foster that could take him in and provide the care he needs. I not only was flooded with offers of rescue/foster takers but 3 very good viable applicants already approved at other rescues looking for a Charlie. One of these 3 now own him and will provide him the dedication needed to fully recover from his first 16 months of life.

sorry so long winded

As tough as it may sound, at least Charlies owner had enough sense to contact you. Sounds like for one you have more pups and dogs going OUT of your door than in...now isn't that a change! Great job Teresa!

Charlie is the maltipoo in the picture on this thread. I'd been working with him owner to either try to give him the commitment needed or give him up. He was in and out in less than 24 hours. That's why you didn't hear about him before. I had other ready to take him and care for him. I didn't intend on fostering him. My plate's still full. I only helped for an overnighter is all.

As for tons of the adoptions... I've worked on their placements since they were 2 weeks old screening applications. Set up meets once they were 4 weeks old and now their of health and age to move on. That's why it seems so many. Many places don't post pups until 6 weeks or so. I wanted time to insure I was getting the very best place for them rather that push them off in a couple of weeks of mad house application processing. It was crazy enough how I did it, couldn't imagine doing all of that in only a couple of weeks!

Once this end of this week comes, I think I'll have time to post pix and take everyone on a trip down my memory lane with all of them

Yeah, I would think the applications would be easier the way you did it! Well at least with twenty of them!
