My heart....

Of the 20 pups born here early November and the 2 little cattle girls also here now, I fell hard for one pup like none of the others. It was Jarod. He just left and I'm thrilled with his new home and love his new Mom but my heart is aching! I hate it when I (who am not an emotional woman) get like this I'm really going to miss that huge lovable gorgeous boy!

Best of everything my sweet prince! Oh, his name is Chief now too. It's fitting for him.

Memory Lane with Jarod

3 weeks old at his first gruel meal

4-1/2 weeks old

Just remember if it wasnt for you he would not have had as good of a chance other wise. You helped him, and all the others get of to a great start and helped them find great forever homes too. Awsome job. I bet it is hard, but so rewarding at the same time. I would love to foster when I move out.

Awe Teresa, it is hard to see them go I know. But we have to put our big girl panties on and know that they have a forever home and you were a part of that!! Congratulations on raising the child so go out on his own. Now go and have a good cry!

It's really not so hard to see them go.. I'm usually really happy and very happy with the homes they are going to so it's not so hard...

It was just really hard to see HIM go is all. He left a little hole in my heart and I do know it's all good and wonderful. I just try not to get so attached to anyone especially the cutie little babies. Something about him just got me though LOL stinker!

K. big girl panties back on. Time to work up some new apps for these other little monsters! LOL

I keep forgetting to ask you Teresa, how does your rescue group handle neuter/spay and microchipping? Are the dogs altered and chipped before they go to the new home?

We do not do micro chips yet. We're looking into being able to get them and do them ourselves. I guess it's pretty easy, just need start up $.

Nearly all of our dogs are altered before going out. With 20 puppies all of a sudden, we chose to follow the lead of a few other rescues around and had the new owners pay the adoption fee plus pre pay for the spay or neuter providing us a copy of the receipt at the time of adoption and have given them until the pup's 6 month date to have it done and send us a copy of the certificate or we go get the pup back.

Last Saturday we altered 5. The 2 new cattle girls, 2 of Maia's and Barbie. This was done by the mobile clinic in my driveway.
Maia will be done at the Humane Society were we took her from at their request for $50 as the lowest price we could find was $210 for her and she's already cost us a ton from her health care.

Our Vet takes care of everything except altering. We get no break and he's mid to high on the alter charge. We are not discriminating about who does the alter. If it's a good price and can be done when we need it, we go for it. We have had our vet alter a couple of dogs out of necessity.

Ah Teresa, you're such a good "mom," ... You got him here safe, raised him up right and got him going into the big world safely. Some do touch us in special ways. Just know that you did a great thing, giving him such a good start and finding him the right home.
