City Shelter

I posted last week about our city shelter.

The news has been out to do a story, it was not pretty, but sometimes the truth hurts.

I personally met with the director yesterday, he a nice guy who listened and responded to suggestions. He invited me to the coalition meeting for animal welfare, that was a good experience. Alot of people want to HELP make changes!!

I am hoping on actually becoming employed by the shelter, it would be a secretary. public relation position. It will not happen over night, and maybe not at all, but I am giving it my best shot!!

The shelter is FULL, they have NO more room, but 12 more dogs will be arriving today from outlaying areas. I am heading down there soon to lend a hand.

Do you have any idea how awesome you are? Now that is what I call getting involved! The fact that they were willing to actually listen is a huge step in the right direction. I hope you do get others to assist you..success in numbers.

Cross fingers that they realize what an asset you would be to the shelter and give you the job!.
I truly hope your plan works cos you certainly have the know how to do it!.

That is wonderful news!! I'm so glad you were able to get back to us and it looks like things are looking up (though they couldn't have gotten much worse).

WOW glad to hear that they did a story on it.

As for the job i hope you get it, you deserve it more than anyone looking for a quick buck. You love animals, what other reason?

Oh huge congratulations on getting that story out - please do press on getting a positon there, you'd be a great asset for them.

KNowing you know breeds, our shelter posted them in the papers as what they looked like. Like dalmation/lab etc. The sentence says " appears as". Number one it helped people invision what the dog looks like, and also catches the attention of someone that may already have a similar mix or pure bred and might adopt. Its had a great success here..

Yesterday I got a cute little Cocker Spaniel out and into a new home. BOY did he SMELL!!!

Today I am meeting a woman who will be pulling a white Boxer in bad shape, she will be fostering him, I think I have a woman in Chicago to adopt him.

So, so far I have saved the cocker, the Boxer, and 2 baby kittens.(one kitten is sick and will be going to the vet today)
