Saving Animals Across Borders

Saving Animals Across Borders is working to increase the number of dogs and cats sterilized and to increase the number of homeless animals adopted...

http://www.savinganimals.org/unitedstates.aspx

To all of our rescue people - maybe these folks could offer some assistance.

Right now they are available in just a few places but I thought it might be a good "networking" source.

There's a rescue here that only rescues and adopts dogs from Puerto Rico. They are high cost adoptions too. All are smaller mixed breeds.

We have received 2 recently from Taiwan and the one I agreed to have sent over for immediate adoption for my Son's family.

All that said... we already have sooooooooo many dogs right here in every county and every city dying each day. The whole Taiwan thing was a very hard pill for me to swallow. I'm trying really hard to have a bigger mind about the plight of the homeless dogs world wide but it's still hard for me.

Too many, in the millions, are still being put to death in our own shelters..

Confusing subject in my mind still..

I'm hoping someone in this thread might say something to make me feel much better about it?? anyone?

No...not about bringing animals in - they help across state lines (and yes they have an international division.)

My thoughts were that they seem to be able to negotiate setting up spay/neuter clinics. That they could be used to "network" as to how it can be done with your rescue group/organization.

Just a thought...and as so many of mine are, orbiting the dust bunny in my head

One area I can think of that this would be really helpful would be an exchange program of sorts..
Like we don't always have the most smaller breeds available around here but other places are flooded with them. Where as we have many Shepherds & their mixes and other places don't have too many. And yes, even pit bulls are not too plentiful in some areas and there's tons here.
We just took in (not at my house!) 2 PB Great Dane siblings. A male and female a year old. I checked pet finder and could not find a pure bred dane closer than the deaf dane rescue in Oregon. But there were some in other states..
Could be something to this...........?? thanks.

I hope they can help - at least maybe give you information for starting free spay clinics/government grants (I figure since the governement pays puppy mills they can assist in controlling population.)
