Yep, I'm nuttier than a fruitcake but here goes....

I went with our director tonight to pick up 2 PB Danes. Brother and Sister about a year old.

Couldn't believe my eyes. They are stunning!!! Her friend, who already owns a dane has signed a foster to adopt agreement pending her spay.

The male is intact and hates other males we found out when picking them up so....... the only male here is little Oliver...... so, yes, he's a foster/guest here for now.

His name is Domino and he's black so I can't get any good photos until tomorrow.

I checked petfinder and there's not a PB Dane except for the deaf dane rescue in Oregon until you hit Nevada or Cali...

We were told his Daddy's brother is the #1 champ. Since I don't follow show dogs, I have no idea who that might be.

I know it smells that I can't show you a photo of him but man oh man... we had to take them off petfinder because the phone and email were clogged up! That was with no info, name or pix of them... this is gonna be wild for a couple days.

We're trying to get info on appropriate adoption fees and though our director has a Dane, if there is anything specific anyone has to offer in helping us determine the very best home, please let me know.

I realize they obviously need to want a very large (170ish pounds I'm guessing) inside dog. Can afford the food. Can affored and are aware of the proper Vet care. Is knowledgable in proper nutrition for a dane.. will need a certain measure of strenghth I'd imagine...
Anything else???? They or he will not go to just anyone who thinks it would be a great idea to own a dane. They will have to prove knowledge and experience with the breed or giant breeds.. thanks!

I'd think the breeders would want to know about these two being up for foster - I know I would have; thankfully that was part of my contract ... if you can't keep the dog it *has* to come back to me.

If you contact the Dane Parent Club they can tell you the #1 Dane in the US right now.

They own the father. That's why they gave up the kids. No time for 2 one year olds and Dad & son (go figure 2 unaltered males) had to be seperated so one wasn't shredded by the other!

Why they didn't sell them or give them to the Dams owner is beyond me . People are just so odd sometimes. I don't get it. Just want to find a perfect home for this guy and soon!

Danes are a very interesting breed IMO. They are not easy at age 1.

I would make obdience mandatory as well as a fence.

Not only are food costs high, but heart worm and fela prevention are high, you need 2 doses to cover their weight.

If he is not good with males, the people need to understand that, and NOT take it upon themselves to give it a shot. A large Dane could really hurt a 50-60 pound dog.

I think breed experience is good.

Teresa, DONT feed them puppy food, a Dane should never be fed puppy food.

OMG these people are crazy!! No really I mean it, *not* IMHO decent or responsible representatives for the breed.
