Sid goes to his new home today

Little Sidney the little 18 pound sheltie is going to his forever home today. Sid came to us through Miami/Dade animal shelter. He was an owner turn in. HW positive, bad teeth, not neutered and with a raging ear infection in both ears. We took him in, cleaned him up, saw to it that he lost his beans, had his ears irrigated and gave him his heartworm treatment. He developed kennel cough soon after he was placed with me. That was on December 26. His heartworm treatment took a lot out of his little body. He was so skinny when he came to us we thought we'd have to wait for treatment. Our vet he said it was more dangerous to allow the worms to continue in his body. So sick little Sid battled it out with a sneezing and runny nose, coughing and hacking up phlem and so tired he couldn't stay awake long enough to eat his food. We put him on a special diet of kibble and baby food and that perked him up some. But now his nose is clear and his ears are well and he is ready to go to his new mama and daddy along with his new feathery brother Gonzo an African Gray parrot.

.
I'm going to miss this little guy. We've pulled him through some tough times. But the tears that I shed will be tears of joy knowing that he's going to a wonderful family and he'll have a happy home from now on.
