Darci UPDATE!!

Just got back from the vet, she has gained 6 pounds in 4 days! She is now 89.2 pounds.
They did another and more complete ultrasound along with an Xray. His best estimate is she is 45-53 days, and only thinks there is one pup.

Now the decision, send her on to rescue or just place her here with the all breed group I work with.

My original thought was if she is over 50 days, she was NOT traveling that distance, but she only has one pup. None of her decisions have been easy.

I would place her near you. No reason to further stress her with travel.. One pup huh- wow- I guess she knew she could not support pups. Dumb question- but anyway you could keep here to do one pup? The fact she is gaining weight is a good sign she is settling in... Has the vet started on low doses to help with the heart worm??? ( poor baby..)

WOW thats a good girl gaining pounds I would say if you send her off to a rescue send her to a rescue that does her breed only, they will understand her more and she might have a higher chance since people go there for that particular breed. As for only having one puppy thats really good news, everything can go smoth.

No kidding!
My thoughts:

Me being selfish to a point and needing to know how some are doing (you know, the ones that really tear at the old heartstrings like she did you) : Keep her near by. We handle nearly half of our rescues as pure breeds and do fine with their care and placement!

Send her to the mastiff rescue and her odds might be better, as Scottie said, of having someone looking for her to find her there.

The only thing about the last part is that if I'm looking for a mastiff on petfinder, I put mastiff in the search and they all come up, pure bred dogs and the mixes of mastiff. So, that may not necessarily place into it.

Do what's best but I'm hoping she sticks close so we can continue to get updates and follow her story into a happily ever after 2nd chance!

I am so happy she is putting on weight and in such a short time, that is fantastic.

Mastiff rescue might be the best place for he,r as long as there is someone their with your devotion and love for her

Glad to hear she is having a small litter (if you can even call 1 pup a litter).

Traci I'm telling you if you don't keep her I will be more than glad to come and get her! I just hate the thought of her last days, months maybe even yrs left to be in a rescue.

I'd place her somehwere near you; but that's just what I would do. I hope you're able to decide what to do. I'm sorry it's been so difficult on you..that's never fun.

If it was me I would keep her and let her have it at my place. I would be worried it would cause her too much stress
