Scooter Update and deworming question

Took a fecal sample to the vet yesterday... it was actually funny I called Fri and the Tech told me that as long as he did not have temp or something else to look at they did not NEED to see the dog just to catch some stool and bring it in (they were booked solid)

So at 8am yesterday morning Mike loads up into the car with his little baggie of poo and heads off

When he arrives at the vet the receptionist ask where the dog is and MIke told her look lady it is -10 with the wind chill that is too cold to have a puppy out in it LOL

So they ran the fecal test and he has worms so they gave us Nemex 2 pill and some albon for hte loose stool seems to be working great

NOw my question is which dewormer is best??

" what wormer is best " That really depends upon what type of worms he has but in my opinion a wormer that is broadspectrum is the best to use. It should also kill HEARTWORM.

OK so I found you a chart you can refer to when deciding. Check the chart in the link for different wormers and what they kill.

http://www.petandkennelsupply.com/He...prevention.htm

I use INTERCEPTOR for worms and heartworms. We do not have issues with fleas here so I tend not to worry about tapeworms but if you are in a flea infested area and you dog has had or could get fleas pick a wormer that kills them; the only thing I can see on that chart does not kill heartworms, so you may have to buy two different wormers.

Make sure you talk this over with your Vet and let him help you decide what is best for your area.
