IMO eukanuba large breed puppy food would be an excellent choice for a lab.

I find its the only commonly available food that lands smack dab in the middle of aafco reccomendations for fat/ protein as well as calcium to phosphorous ratios. All important factors in the skelatal development of large breed dogs.

Definitley Nutro natural large breed, it is worth the money, doesnt contain the same chemicals or fillers found in most brands of dog food, great for sensitive stomachs and allergies.

Friskies is fine, I have substituted it at times if I am unable to get pedigree.
Most puppy formulas have to conform to a standard.
I breed labradors, all have been raised on pedigree puppy.

Nutro is a decent food. Pedigree and Friskies are crappy, read the label. What color is your lab? Chocolates are recessives and can have more skin issues which would definitely sway your decision on food. Large breeds do very well on Canidea which is a premium food at a decent price.

This thread is from 2004. Hopefully they've found a better food by now. Please don't reopen old threads.
