Hi Crystal, thanks for your care and asking, Yes Sophie is now home, the same as your dog was in your other reply on my post, she had to be carried in, 30kg, sure puts it on your back if you know what I mean. She is asleep, the vet said she will sleep all tonight and most of tomorrow because she is an older dog, she did really well, had a lot of bleeding, so I have to keep any eye on her. I have put a mattress down, and put a blanket over her to keep her warmer, when she tried to go outside she was very shaky and wobbily, I had to carry her back in.
My heart goes out to her, she will be inside for a while, so Madam Ellie unfortunately has had to go outside with Wally.
Thanks again, pity I didn't get your message sooner, cause it was exactly what you said, I thought she was gonna come home, all alert and over the place.

You got her back same day? WOW, no wonder she's groggy. Here in Canada even with the laser surgery they keep them a minimum of one overnite - two if there is excessive bleeding. Sorry for the wrong advise I gave - I assumed they would do the same there.

Hope she feels better soon. Hugs, etc. XXOO to Sophie.

That's ok Doglover, you didn't know she would be home the same day. She slept all night, she is a bit more alert today, but not moving round too much, which is to be expected. They said she had a lot of bleeding, so she will be pretty slow for a little bit, I have to keep an eye on the wound incase it starts to bleed again, otherwise she is fine, She had a drink but brought it all back up again last night, I will see how she goes this morning. Don't worry she is getting heaps of attention, even hubby is giving her some, called her madam muck this morning.
Miss Ellie is outside looking through the back door, wondering what the **** is going on, why aren't I inside.

Well i am sure glad i read this post I am making Whiskeys appointment soon. He is already 60lbs at 5mths. i know they will keep him over night one night as i am in Canada too guess I am going tot have to find somebody to help me carry him up my flight of stairs to my apartment. I would not trust myself carrying him up 30 stairs.

Sambcca, the reason for Sophies slow recovery is because of her age, Your pup should be fine, as a day later Sophie is up and about walking around, also she is female and had her uterus removed, your pup will only have his testicles done, nowadays they only cut the bag and remove them, not even any stiches, and if he is in overnight he will be up and about the next day just like Sophie is, the only reason she couldn't walk is because of the anaesethic, she went in at 8.30am and returned at 3.00pm the same day.

My female dog also came home the same day...She also threw up a few times so that is to be expected...It is hard on your back to carry those heavey dogs =) I'm glad she is doing better..Before you know it you won't even be able to tell she was spayed..

Cool so I wont have to carry him that is a relief.
Yeah I was hoping it would be no stitches just suture right?
My vet is great I got my cat fixed there two years ago, cant remember a thing about his recovery.
Yeah Whiskey will be six months when he gets it done exactly. Some people say it is better to wait till 8mts but unfortunatley my time off is in July so I am just glad he is old enough.
Do you think this will improve his tempramnent? He is dominant testing with me.

Glad to hear all went well for your girl and she is up and about.

Personally I prefer them being done at the 6 months, so long as the testicles are well down there should be no problem.
If you do it later sexual maturity has already been reached and that male testosterone can cause a lot of those unwanted dominance, territorial problems, lifting of the leg is a sure sign of having reached this, and if you want an inside dog you need them fixed before this to prevent it altogether.
If you have a dominance problem starting, the castration will help a bit, but you will need to nip it in the bud yourself, just let him know right NOW you are the boss. Don't wait for the operation to perform miracles.
