STBM - Check this out, this will give you a better idea of what will be good in your life style. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm

My best suggestion,is take this quiz, find out what breed of dog is best for you & start looking into rescues that rescue this breed, because there is a sweet pup out there in rescue waiting just for you.

Small or medium because I live in town. A dogs thats good with kids, is a must. I am expecting,so I'm not sure if I will have much time to teach a dog who is "bad" at obediance. Also,I would perfer if the dog is not so loud. I do live in a house so i don't have to worry about bothering neighbors. Right now I am taking clases on the internet. So I am home 90% of the time. I love to walk and I have a pool in the back yard and we go swimming in there alot. So probabley a dog that can swim. Or a breed that is good at swimming. I think I want a female or maybe a male. I had troble with my male dog when I was growing up, he was always humping smething, though he was fixed. I don't care about the shedding. I think I want a dog I can take to the groomer to get a fancy haricut. I don't care if it is active or laid-back, if doesn't really matter. I live in California,so its almost always nice weather.

Well, all I can say is take that quiz & find the best breeds for you & look on Petfinder.com & look into rescues...You will find the best dog for you there.

those results seem to jump around a bit from hyper and prone to be snappy dogs to brilliant kids dogs its very confusing. i would also be be very wary of accepting advice from a site that recommends cross breeds, you never know what you're going to get with a cross breed and buying a designer dog is highly irresponsible.
From what you have said i would recommend a cairn terrier or a cavalier king charles spaniel. A Shih tzu may also suit you since you dont mind a lot of hair.

Agree with lou3 here. Also, you dont want a dog that can jump on your baby. Some dogs do that not knowing their size. Small breed is best for your. Also, alot of people tend not to train their small dogs because there tiny and arent capable of doing as many things a big dog can such as jumping on counters, tables, cant chew NEARLY as much, etc..
