Exclamation HELP!!!Rocco took a chunk out of Chanti's little face

I had given all three dogs bully sticks to munch on this afternoon. Hudson and Rocco finished theirs first when Rocco tried to take Chanti's he attacked her when she wouldnt give it up....he ended up taking a chunk out of her pretty little face.

I called HART (the foster agency) and all the vets are closed now, so I am going to take her in the morning but I can not figure out how to dress her face. I have tried a sock with holes in it for ears and eyes but he kept trying to get it off.

Does anyone have any suggestions???

I will post pics in a sec.

Oh no! That's horrible! I have no clue how to wrap a dog face technique-wise, but make sure it's nice and tight! Anything fabric-wise would do for overnight, maybe tights if you could get them on tight enough, or an old towel? Is she still bleeding?

Sorry to hear the bad news...

Chunk? Like a hole that won't stop bleeding?

Oh phew, a small relief I pictured it much, much worse. Did you wash it with water then clean with antiseptic? Hold something clean on it as long as you can after that to make sure it's not bleeding anymore.

Is it bothering her? Or was it just the sock that was bothering her? You'll have to watch out she doesn't scratch or pick at it.

They've grown a ton! Whoa, we definetly didn't get enough pics between bringing them home and first injury!

Flush the wound out with saline and apply an antibiotic cream. Seek veterinary care as bite wounds often become infected, I know you can't do that tonight but do so ASAP in the morning.

Neosporin or other triple antibiotic ointments are safe.

It is not bleeding anymore...what concerns me is that it is so open and I want to cover it to keep it clean.

I have cleaned it with warm saline and put a bunch of poly on it with a clean q-tip....but I want to cover it.....maybe I should try a bigger sock...

That doesn't look too bad. I agree with a good wash and maybe some polysporin.

I was thinking gushing blood. Merlin had one like that (thanks to Ariel). Just keep it clean and keep an eye on it for infection.

Cut the hair around the wound so that it doesn't stick to it!.Wash it with warm water, put some hydrogen peroxde on it and let it,dry!.
Open wounds will dry faster!.It looks deep but looks clean!.I would just let it,dry and leave it,as is!.
