eating feces
How do I stop my dog (Red Bone Coonhound) from eating cat and chicken feces? Is it unhealthy for her? It is really gross to see.

Eating feces is self rewarding. No matter how much you correct the dog, once they get a hold of the poopcicles, they get their reward.
The best course of action is to remove the cat/chicken feces from the area so the dog can't get to it. Litter boxes should be put where the dog has difficulty getting it, chicken coups should be closed. Any dog that I've met that eat poops has a unique smell to them. Not one I would call pleasant. Also, they can get worms and should have fecal exams regularily to see if they are picking up any intestinal parasites. Oh... and lastly - puppy kisses are off my To Do List. |

Try feeding her a few green beans at each meal. There is something in the green beans that detour dogs from eating poop.

Cat poop can give your dog pretty bad intestinal infections, so I would keep the cat poop clear of the dog. Chicken poop can be just as bad for all kinds of flukes so I would watch that too.
