Just Curious, How Do You Come Up with Names

For your fosters and rescue pups...I always wondered how you come up with names for them, they always seem to suit them so well!

Looks? In honor of people? Gender and personality? I've got lists and lists of names, some for breeds I'm gonna rescue and some for dogs I want to own. I'll just think of what suits them and what they look like, then name them.

LOL with all the puppies it was wearing me out! I let you guys name Maia's and a couple of Barbies. I let our admin person name some at times ie: Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts for our sisters from down under (aussie cattle dog/blue heelers). She did the last 4 also Miss Lily, Miss Iris, Spring and Tenzing. Tenzing will have his name changed next if he doesn't get any hits soon.. not 1 app for him Spring does have a meet Saturday and tomorrow evening so she will be spared a name change for now

I don't know, they just come to me eventually. I asked for help with Celia's name but came across that and it stuck in my head so that was it.

Barbies pups I looked under wikipedia for cows and black and went from there.

I use names origins at times too. Found a great name site to use for ideas.

I have a list for future dogs of my own somewhere, but for foster dogs I try to stay with the same starting letter or similar sound. Since I foster bc's and traditionally names are one syllabol I tend to take that route. I then go to a Gaelic - English dictionary online and type in words, or go to the BC Museum website as they have a wonderful selection of names and their meanings. Sometimes a name just "comes" to me like my pupper Whim aka Wyndhorse Ona Whim and a Prayer. My next dog if he/shes an aussie will be Wyndhorse Antz in hiz Pantz aka Fidjit (male) or Wyndhorse Jump fer Joy aka Bounce (female). Future female bc could be Wyndhorse Springloaded aka Booiinngg, male Wyndhorse Point and Shoot aka Sniper
