I already have one dog but a family member got a puppy and they had to go somewhere for a week so im watching there puppy lucky. He has been acting fine up intill 30 minutes or so and i noticed something on his rearend. I saw pink skin sticking out of his butt and he has kinda started scooting his rearend on the carpet. its kinda got me worried. Should i take him to a vet or dose this sound like dog hemroids? It dosen;t seem to bother him to much he is still acting like a puppy but it just kinda bothers me and worries me.

It could be tissue from his insides that were forced out because he strained too hard while pooping or swollen tissue or even glands Human grade hemmorid cream like PrepH is ok to use. It has soothing qualities. I would apply a small amount on the area - rub in well. If the conditions worsens or hasn't gotten better overnite, a trip to the vet's might be in order.

If there is any puss, I would go right away.

thank you. there is no puss or anything and it seems not to bother him to much but if its not better in the morning to be on the safe side i will take him to the vet. What happens if you don;t have any prepH? what would be a good sub?

Any hemmorid cream would be fine. Or I would hold a clean mositured (with cool water) paper towel over the area for a minute (or so) and then some vaseline. Do not use creams with perfumes.

If you have baby diaper rash creme, that might be ok too.

Does it look anything like this?

I thought of it as nothing but a rash, turned out to be an abcessed gland that needed surgery immediately upon arrival to the vet's.

puppy hemeroids?

This exact same thing happened to my 7 week old male boxer pup. He was fine one minute then acting like he was trying to itch his bottom. After a few minutes, i noticed a light pink bulge from his backside. I immediately called my vet and he told me it could possibly be from straining. I was told to apply a compress made of equal parts sugar/water, make it into a thinner paste. Hold on pups bottom for about 20 minutes. I was told the sugar will help "retract" his bottom properly. I was also prescribed a cream to apply. It has only been a few hours and he is resting now. He also seems to have excessive gas and is irritable at potty time. As long as we keep him calm and comfortable, he is fine.
