Periodontal Vaccine
Hi All,
Well, we had a staff meeting today and the vets that I work for want to introduce a 'puppy pack' that includes the regular vaccines along with Periodontal Vacc.... all at a discounted price. They believe that this will bring heightened awareness to Peridontal disease and encourage clients to pay more attention to our dog's teeth health. I guess I should have asked more about it but didn't. What do you all think of this vaccine? I've tried to research it but info is scarce on the web. BTW...I have an Anesthesia exam on Fri...please wish me luck. Thanks in advance! |

Opps we're posting at the same time. Granted it is it in it's infancy but the vets (that are dental advocates) are really keen on it. Me...I really have no opinion at the moment. I agree with brushing every day and a yearly cleaning.

I'm not keen on anything that's been through such a small trial, no long term effects can be known at this time. I'm terribly leery about over vaccinations and without more info this wouldn't be one I'd advocate (unless someone were just dead lazy and did not care for their dogs teeth.)

Raw bones should remove the need for yearly cleanings or brushing at least here it does. My 9yr old doesn't even need a cleaning and has never had one. I rarely vaccinate as it is since I would rather go vac free.

Mine have raw bones every day - but I still take them in once a year to have vet check teeth.
