The puppies had their vet check, murmur question.

I had the Saintly crew in for their vet check and my vet detected a very slight murmur with one of the females. He said it's fairly common and that she should grow out of it. The *should* is what's concerning me but he made it seem like it was nothing to worry about. Anyone familar with puppy murmurs that can fill me in?

We also have one other female with a very tiny umbilical hernia. I didn't even notice it until he pointed it out. It's about the size of an eraser on a pencil. Easily fixed when she is spayed.

Other than that everyone is very healthy and feisty. LOL

Good to hear everyone is fit!

Altho I have never had a pup with a murmur I hear they are common and do usually grow out of it. My suggestion is to make sure you explain to the new owners about it.

Glad everyone is doing well! As far as the heart murmur - I don't have experience with puppies, but I know with babies many have heart murmurs that they grow out of. If your vet isn't worried about it, don't worry! If something big is wrong, you can cross that bridge when you get to it. More pictures, missy!

Hi Randi,
Yes, she will most likely outgrow the murmur. As to the small hernia, this may be gone by the time she is spayed. We had a little male come in his neuter that had had a hernia noticed at birth. Lo and behold, it was no longer present!

Congrats on all of your lil love bugs :-)

Glad they are doing well. My daughter had a slight murmer and is totally fit since an infant. I don't know but sounds like pups can do the same. Need more pix before they start flying out the door!

Pics would be good!!! I have heard that heart murmers do settle on their own usually. So if the vet is not concerned I would not worry, but like BratBoxer said make sure to tell the owners about it. Also I have heard that the puppies who have heart murmers should not be bred from?? Why I have no idea or if this is nonsense could be... do you have a spay/neuter clause in your contracts??
