Angus prob?

Most of you know he is my adopted kid! He lives a mile or so down the road and comes and goes when he wants.

Anyway, he came here yest morn. He just didn't look right. He acted fine but his pupils were black as black could be and the whites were actually reddish.

Of course I called Pam only to hear outgoing voiemail! I just wanted to see if he hasn't been feeling well lately! I know she has been upset with the barn fire but that was a week ago! She didn't return my message!

I can not afford to vet him and she know's that!! His color is better today. is brown eyes are back and his white's are white!

I just don't understand the darkness in his pupils to begin with! Is that a sign of something?

I googled around a little bit, and it sounds like it could be a lot of things. If it gets better, I wouldn't worry about it. Here's some information from one site about why some dogs get bloodshot eyes.

Your dog might have scratched their eye;
Your dog might have something trapped in their eyelid;
Your dog might have allergies;
Your dog might have high blood pressure;
Your dog might be getting glaucoma;
Your dog’s eyes might be irritated from riding with their head outside the car; or
Your dog might have been sprayed by a skunk.
If your dog does have red eyes, rest assured that there are steps you can take to help your furry friend overcome this ailment.

You might want to rinse them out;
You might want to invest in Doggles so that their eyes are protected when they hang out of the window; finally,
You might want to use tissue to get an object out of your dog’s eye.
If none of the above remedies work then you should consult your vet to see what exactly might be causing the problem.

Ha ha. My list just shows it can be anything, including your suggestion. That's what's cool about dog forums. Everyone chips in with suggestions, and if we're lucky, one of us is right and we help a pup.

I'm sure he's fine if they cleared up. Maybe his nose caught a wonderful scent and he got overenthused and stuck his face as low as he could to the grond and BAM! Scratched his eye with a stray twig... never saw it coming.

If mine get red eyes, I just watch the eyes and dogs behavior for about 24 hours. Is it better? worse? are they rubbing eyes?(irritation) sneezing? (allergies or cold) tearing (irritant or scratch).
Just some things to look out for to narrow down the possibilities. Give him a hug from all of us and I'm sure he'll be on the mend in no time!

He wasn't "ill" cause he was acting just fine personality wise!!
It just kinda freaked me out with pupils being so dark!

Maybe he was getting high on his long walk to my home, knowing he was gonna be cared for!!!

BTW! I let him out last night to p and he never came back!!! He went back there!!

It's like a mile or so on those short legs!!!
