Twitchy feet....

Poppy has twitchy feet - she keeps lying down and then kicking out her back legs, she doesn't seem to be able to stand on her paws properly and when she walks every so often she'll kick her legs out.

I hope she's only stood on some nettles or something because otherwise it will be another vet trip!

That is exactly what I was going to say. It almost sounds like she steps in something, but very small, like nettles or brambles or such.

Would something like scotch tape work on her paws to pull some of the needles out??

She doesn't have anything stuck in her paws (I checked) - if there was anything left over from the nettles I would have known about it as I'm allergic to nettles.

She's had some benadryl, a bath and I've put some Aloe Vera gel on her paws... hopefully it will calm down soon.

I have to say she does look quite funny when she's twitching and jumping (yes, I'm a bad mom I shouldn't laugh).

Poor Poppy, does sound like something got into the pad. The aloe gel should really help. If not try a salt draw...she also may have scuffed a toenail and if that's the case the salt will make it "feel" better.

Here she is - anybody who knows Poppy knows this is NOT how she normally lies down!!!! She didn't even want to put her paws on her bed...

Normally she'd be like this:

Awww, Poor Poppy. She has an ouchy look to her eye. Is she feeling any better now??

I would say if she doesn't get better by tomorrow, you may want to take her to the vet.

Years ago I had a very old dog that developed the same symptoms. It turned out to be neurolgical, not physical.

Hope this is just something simple and quickly resolved!

She's fine today - when I thought back she walked through a patch of young nettles yesterday. I remember thinking at the time "She doesn't normally do that!" Poor thing, I just wished I could have rubbed it better for her.

Oh good, I am glad Poppy is feeling better. Her fox red boyfriend was all worried about her.
