Question Boomer's Incision

I need help & suggestions. Weezy, you out there???

Boomer has opened his incision a little bit. Yes, I can get him into our Vet tomorrow but the oncall gal is there and we don't care for her. Our regualar doc will be there Monday.

So, is there anything I can do meanwhile? I tried to put a maxi pad over it but I can't secure it. I tried to put medical tape over it to keep it covered and clean. He growled at me so it's bothering him. He's wearing a cone but he's destroyed it so its' now, taped, stapled etc to keep it on. He can still get to it some. I have him tethered to me to keep him off it now.

Of course if it seems to be getting bad/worse, he will go to emergency but at a different hospital than ours.

Help!

Do you have any crazy glue? Put a bit on the open part and tape it shut. It will then stay shut till you can get to the vet on monday. You might need somone to hold him as you do this so you dont get glue everywhere.

Crazy glue is completely sterile and completely safe to use.

Thanks. No I don't have any but I'll go get some and an extra set of hands. I've heard that for paws and such but wasn't sure about this place.

I use it all the time on Hudson...all over Hudson. I use it at work on people who have minor cuts, and I used on my hockey boys all the time.

Did you know that crazy glue was originaly invented during world war II to use as a medical aid in the field!!!

I have a bottle of it with me all the time it is great stuff. Let me know how it works.

OHhh and if you can try to pick up some butterfly closers...they will work great directly over the glue then a piece of tape over the whole kit and kabudal.

I forgot to ask....is it bleeding or is it just open? Can you post a picture of it?

If it doesn't appear appear infected or oozing...then I would suggest steri strips. This are sticky little strips that help to bind the wound together. First gently wash the wound with a sterile saline solution. Pat dry. Then apply the steri strips. Let they fall off by themselves. IF there is is any indication of redness or swelling then an antibiotic may in order.

Thanks all.
One of the gals is getting me a new better cone and some butterfly strips. They don't want to do the super glue thing on this wound. It is not bleeding but it open about a half inch. I'll try to get a photo of it before we patch it up. Or at least attempt to!
