*update On Merlin*

I am happy to say Merlin is doing fine he was eating a bit on his own today. I took him to my parents house with me yesterday and my dad gave him some boiled chicken (he was making home made chicken soup) so Merlin got the chicken straight from the soup anyway about 15 min after eating a couple pieces he started eating his food I don't know if that perked his appetite or what but it worked. So my dad gave me some in a baggy to take home so I gave him a little piece and again a couple min later he dove into his own food so we are making some progress.

We did leave him out of his kennel last night which might cause a set back with kennel training but he slept beside the bed and we brought the food and water into the room (did have to clean up some poop this morning) but he didn't pee in the house we took him straight out side when we/he woke up and he peed there. But the poor little guy still has diarreah so I can't really blame him for pooping on the floor I am hoping the diarreah stops soon if not I might have to take him back to the vet and get something for it

Have you tried the rice water or canned (not pumkin pie) whole pumpkin?

I'd start with a 1/4 tsp and go up to a full tsp as needed. That should really firm up her stool. What are you feeding right now? Not suggesting you change with her having diarreha just asking...maybe to that add some whole yogurt and/or the two bacteria supplements suggested.

You're right not to switch him right now, I really believe if you add the pumpkin/probiotics to his diet it would help him greatly with the diarreha.

Kow and Daux..I know the switching thing and why, but Eukanuba is terrible for loose stools and gas. Especially on sensitive tummies. Maybe switching wouldn't be such a bad idea..?

I agree it's terrible food - but with the pup having been so ill I'd be disinclined to switch just yet. Rather see him stablized without throwing a change to his system. If it had just been the upset tummy then yes, no worries, but because concerns of relapse upsetting him by changing would be against my natural inclination.

Daux>okey dokey..I see your point...just got the mind thinking before if maybe it was the food then.... but that doesn't seem to be the only issue.

You're absolutely right though that it can/does cause intestinal problems. I've never fed it but I've been around others that did and their dogs had the worse gas and "soft serve" poo
