Tear stains
Sorry if this is in the wrong place...
Cali one of the dogs were watching this week has tear stains VERY bad. What do you do to get rid of them? Is there any home "remedies" for them? They are really bugging me. Thanks.

Wash it every day
![]() There are commercial products available that claim to help- Eye Envy or Angel Eyes. I have used EE myself with positive results, but if you quit using it the stains come back. Also go over the diet again- lots of folks claim beet pulp is responsible, and red dye has to go somewhere. Sometimes adding a good fatty acid supplement helps tremendously. |

Holly them in one eye in the winter- I'm 98% sure that it's an environmental allergy. I know what you mean- I hate tear stains, and when Holly's eye is tearing, it drves me absolutely nuts.
It could be diet related, or something they have in their house. Unforunately not something you could solve as the one week sitter.

I would never recommend using Angel Eyes being that it contains an antibiotic. Just dip a Q-tip in Hydrogen Peroxide and swab a few times (making sure to hold the dog and not going too close to the eye). I do this daily till gone. My white girl Sharky sometimes has them but not often. Could be food, seasonal allergy, or really anything.

Sometimes, it's due to shallow tear ducts causing tears to spill out onto the fur. Then as yeast grows, the red stains start.
I use Eye Envy with great results. At first you need to use it daily, then after a while you can usually get it down to 1-2 times a week. |
