Boxer - Sore Face

Hi all - well Bruce is not having a good week!! Its like Animal Hospital here at the moment!!!

I was giving him a good face rub today and noticed that the area near his eyes seemed a bit sore? (kind of where the tear line is) I got some cotton pad soaked it rung it out and wiped both sides of his eyes and some hair and dirt mark was on the cotton. it seems to be on both sides.

is my halti causing this, is their anything i can do to help him or should he go to the vet? it does not appear to be bothering him?

His face round this area is quite tight with wrinkles so hard to clean in there (i have put a pic below so you can see what i mean by the wrinkles)

I'm no boxer expert but I use bag balm on minor things like that all the time.
Not a fan of halties. This could be yet another reason for me not to care for them if it's the culprit.

If it's the halti that's causing it and you do need that sort of control then get him an anti-pull harness instead. Did you get some sudocream? If so you can use that on his face.

Poor Bruce he's not having a good week. I can't wait to meet him !

I have bought every harness / anti pull thing i can buy, the halti is the only thing i can walk him with! as soon as the pups are gone he shall be going to ring training, so i am hoping that will fix the problem!

yes i bought the sudocream - will this be safe on his face - its quite near to his eyes? i sniffed the area earlier and it has got a sweaty tinge smell to it?

Yes, the sudocream will be safe near his eyes - as long as you don't get it in his eyes!!!

I would bathe it several times a day and apply the cream. Poppy had a similar issue when she was younger with her harness and we used sudocream on her.

He has very loose eyes to begin with with all that weight from his gowls so automatically sets him up for eye problems whether its just starting now or has problems in the past. He may have a type of conjunctivitis so I do suggest having a vet look at him whether its being caused by pollen, dust, smoke, or bacteria it cant be comfortable. Loose eyes is something that should be bred away from.
