Seborrhea anyone?

Roxy had a skin biopsy done last week due to her constant flakiness and itching. The tests came back yesterday, with evidence of moderate sebborhea as well as some type of allergy.

My vet gave me a special medicated shampoo to use once a week and we'll see how it works out.

Does anyone else have a dog with seborrhea? Any "herbal remedies"?

Roxy's type is the dry type, which is apparently seen in Doberman's.

Thanks in advance guys

I'll have to dig out my camera and cords... they're still packed

But she's really flaky today Huge chunks of dandruff and lesions on her back and sides, poor girl.

When I get back tonight, I'll try to find my camera and get some pictures!

Dandelion, Echinacea, & homeopathic remedies such as Sulfur creams work well.

You might want to consider Rescue RemedyŽ Cream, DW Crabapple (Bach Flower Remedy) Salve, DW Calendula Salve, and Echinacea, Goldenseal, & Chaparral Salve.

You can make a paste of Goldenseal Herb, Vitamin E Oil, and Honey to spread on the affected area, or add one cup of Chamomile Tea or three drops of Rescue RemedyŽ to the bath water to relieve pain and itching. Also tie up some oatmeal in cheesecloth and add to warm rinse water (start water hot so the oatmeal releases its "essence",) it's so nice on irritated skin.

Orally you can give HomeoPet Skin & Seborrhea, it's a sulphur compound.

The shampoo I have is a sulphur shampoo, so at least that seems to be a step in the right direction!

Tea tree oil, (before I knew what was wrong with her) seemed to really help, but I didn't know that Oatmeal would help any.

Thank you!
