Update on Nick, my rescue!!

Everything is going great with Nick, much better than I expected!

I really thought i was taking on a problem dog but in reality he is so far from it!! I think that the ppl that he went to (all of them) did not bother looking into what breed mix he is and thought he would be easy becuz of his size!! Well, those of u that have had jack russells and miniature pinchers probly know better!!
When he came he was a whiner and a barker....in this week the whining has almost completely stopped (I just ignored him) and he only barks like Röskva does to let me know something is going on outside and as soon as I say all is ok he stops. He actually doesnt even care if I have to go out as long as he has röskva as company, I started by leaving for 10 min, then 20 and so on. I was going to crate him but he totaly freaked so I "nickproofed" the house and it has gone well. I do not make a fuss about leaving or returning and I have been gone for 3 hrs without any problems After the first 3-4 days he even stopped following me everywhere and will go upstairs to sleep even tho I stay downstairs.

So far the only problem we have is that he steals from the trash, and since my cabinets have no doors I will be buying a trash can with a lid on monday!!

He is an absolute sweetheart and so eager to please. Last friday we went to meet Jagó(3yr dobie) and kíara (min pin), I kept him on lead to begin with as I was not sure how he would do with other dogs but after 5 min I allowed him to be loose, he has excelent dog manners!!

Ah bless you and YIPPY that he's everything the *other* people didn't realize he is for you. He really is cute.

I am so glad to hear such positive things about Nick. Can I give you some advise (I learned the hard way ) on the garbage can purchase? Buy the heavy stainless steal with the heavy lid where you have to step on the pedal to open. This is the only garbage can that is Buddy proof. He has moved it from one end of the kitchen to the other but he cannot get in it
