help... need good vet/specialist in north jersey
hey all, i'm new to the site and my dog gnik is in some serious discomfort. he got loose during the last snow fall and decided to take a trip into the woods with my friends dog. gnik was gone all day (ended up in a neighbors garage for about 7 hours) and when i got him back he was limping a little... thought it was his age (9) and being a little out of shape.
since his "trip", the limp has gotten progressively worse and now the r.f. leg is lame. he has been to 2 vets and xrays taken of his rf leg and chest. my primary vet initially treated him for lyme and after evaluating the (poor quality) xrays "thought" gnik has arthritis and gave us meds to treat it. problem is... nothing is working and in my opinion, it looks as though his shoulder is either dislocated and/or broken. his right shoulder blade looks "sunken" and the arm/shoulder forward more than it should be.
i called again this morning to see if my vet could take another look and he said if it is dislocated and/or broken he could not handle but, he could refer me to a specialist. i immediately called the "specialist", who we've used before and they can't see him until may 9th! i explained the circumstances and she still said that is the 1st available "consultation".
can any of you in north jersey and/or north east pa give me the name of a reasonable and reliable specialist? i cannot wait another 12 days for gnik to be seen. we have emergency animal hospitals in the area but they are all unscrupulous crooks. although he has an extremely high tolerance of pain gnik is very uncomfortable and cannot get around and/or sleep (well). thanks for reading the post and i look forward to your replies.
