I need help

My lab Diesal,who is almost 11 has pancreatitis again. We have done everything that is humanly possible to keep him from garbage and human food,but to no avail he is sick again. He has not eaten in a week and still is drinking. He is shakey and very tired.I called the vet and they were no help,just saying that we needed to not let him eat for 24 hrs(well that is no problem,like i said already he has not eaten in a week) and that he could take asprin for pain but, what else is there to do and has anyone else had this experience.
