My puppy got spayed????

I just picked her up from the vet about two hours ago, and she just can't get comfortable! I feel so bad for her, she is whimpering, and gets up and lays back down. Is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable? She is laying on her doggie bed, and she is on painkillers. I mean I knew she would still be in pain, but, I didn't think she would whimper consistantly. Again, is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable? Stupid cone!

A lot of times it's the residual anesthesia...if you've ever had surgery you'll remember coming out of the anesthesia, feeling odd, add the pain...whimpers.

Makes sure she has really soft bedding initally, that should help, ring the vet discuss her crying, she may be allowed slightly more pain meds. She should be right as rain in about 7 - 10 days.

Poor baby, it is just a horrid feeling not to be able to make it all better for our furkids! Hope she feels better in the morning, give us an update!

I would be leaning towards that being more confusion and disorientation from anaesthesia than a pain reaction/meds. Hopefully she feels better in the morning!

How old is she? The younger they are the less they usually need a cone to leave the incision alone. If she doesn;'t need it, she will be much more comfy without it on. If she's bothering it, absolutely leave it on!
Great that you spayed her and she will be fine in no time!!!

What type of pain killers? Some oral medications can cause dysphoria and that might be why the dog can't relax.

Hope she's doing better today? I know I always whimper and whine when I wake up from anesthesia...

Poppy was awful when we picked her up and she didn't have a cone! Personally I would remove the cone and put a t-shirt on her so she can't get to her stitches. That way she can get more comfortable.

As you can see my girl really wasn't happy when we got her home:

If she still doesn't show signs of feeling better tomorrow then I'd call the vet again.
