TPLO surgery

Hello,

My 3 yrs old Boxer torn his ACL ligament in his left hind knee and got the joint repaired with a surgery called a TPLO. He had the surgery 4 weeks ago. My vet suggested for him to do "Hydro Therapy" to help the joint heal and regain the strength.

Has anyone else done this, if so was it worth the big bucks?

Also, did your dog full recover and live a normal active life after the TPLO surgery?

You would get the same result by getting him to swim in a lake or a pool but don't allow him to jump!.
Yes it is worth doing aqua-atherapy if yr dog doesn't like to swim cos take the weight of the legs and sort of massage it,gently.
Swimming is the best exercise ever for injuries!.

Thx! He won't swim in a lake or something like that. It is also way to cold to go in with him right now!!

I have not had any personal experience with Hydro Therapy. But, a person I know with a female mastiff did do it and was very, very pleased with the results. I guess it really helped her recovery and forced her to use both of her legs equally. She is a big fan of it.

I have known a number of peole who used hydro therapy as well, to very good results. It is a very good. no impact exercise, so it really helps rebuilding the muscles and use of leg without any damage!
